Police say a shooting reported Thursday evening, September 10, 2015, is related to other recent gun violence incidents that have happened in the past two weeks in Davenport, Iowa.

An 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were injured when they were shot in the 200 block of S. Hancock Avenue at about 7 p.m. that evening, police said.  Their injuries were not considered to be life-threatening.

Now, police say the victims and assailant know each other.

Joshua Brewer, 19, of Davenport, was charged in connection with the shooting.  An arrest warrant was issued for Brewer, who is accused of going armed with intent, two counts of willful injury causing serious injuries, and intimidation with a weapon causing serious injury.

If you have information about Joshua Brewer, you should contact Davenport Police at 563-326-6125.

"This incident is believed to be related to other recent gun violence incidents," said a statement from the City of Davenport.  "The (Police) Department continues to aggressively investigate the recent uptick in shots fired incidents in the city, with Chief Paul Sikorski adding that progress is being made."

Earlier on September 10, three people were arrested in connection with a shots fired call near 28th and Brady streets that was reported just after midnight.

Other recent reports of gun violence in Davenport included shell casings found at the Washington Street Mart at 14th and Washington after shots were fired there Sunday, September 6; police said they also found shell casings after shots were fired near Kimberly Road and Welcome Way early Thursday, September 3.   The day before that,  19-year-old from Quincy was shot and killed near the Brady Mart in the 3100 block of Brady.  A man was shot in the area of 10th and Division a day earlier on September 1.  Shots were fired at a vehicle near 2nd and Ripley on August 30.

Police say the recent gun violence incidents were not random acts, referring to them as "target specific" incidents.

So far in 2015, Davenport Police have responded to 121 shots-fired incidents; 22 happened in July and 28 happened in August.  They responded to a total of 118 shots-fired incidents in all of 2014.
