What happened during Thursday night’s storms

A tornado warning was issued around 5:50 p.m. in the Des Moines County and Henderson County areas in Iowa. Tornado warnings and severe thunderstorm warnings continued to pop up until about 8:45 p.m.

The initial storm, though slow-moving around 25 mph, did produce hail and lightning. Some residents near the Burlington, Iowa area saw damaged trees and flying debris.

Cameron, Illinois was severely damaged as a quick tornado reportedly blew through the area.

Thousands were without electricity following the brunt of the storms. The areas with most customers without power were around Monmouth, Illinois and in Rock Island County.
