The mother of one of the Evansdale, Iowa girls, who were kidnapped and later found dead, has been arrested again.

Ten-year-old Lyric Cook and her cousin, Elizabeth Collins, disappeared after they were last seen riding bicycles July 13, 2012 in Evansdale.  Hunters found the girls’ bodies nearly five months later.

Lyric’s mother, Misty Morrissey, was hospitalized after she was found unresponsive about a month after the girls vanished.  Four months after the girls disappeared, Misty Morrissey was ordered to appear in court to face accusations that she violated the terms of her supervised release in a decade-old methamphetamine case.

Misty Morrissey was charged in November 2013 after police said she had methamphetamine, marijuana, scales, packaging and a large amount of cash – all signs of a possible distribution operation – in her home in West Union, Iowa.  Investigators said Misty was released from jail and awaiting trial in that case, but she is now accused of violating the terms of that release.

“On 3/3/2014 Morrissey’s pre-trial (release) was revoked for several violations including use of controlled substances,” said a statement from the Fayette County, Iowa Sheriff’s Office.

Morrissey was held without bond in the Fayette County Jail.
