Nicholas Sheley was found guilty of the murders of four people.

Prosecutors made their closing arguments Thursday, May 29, 2014 saying Sheley left a strong trail of evidence from Illinois to Missouri in the brutal deaths of Kenneth Ulve, Brock Branson, Kilynna Blake, and her two-year-old son, Dayan.

A pathologist who testified during the trial said their fatal injuries were caused by a hammer.

Sheley had been accused of killing the four people in a Rock Falls apartment, during a two-date killing spree in Illinois and Missouri.

The jury deliberated for about three-and-a-half hours and found Sheley guilty of the four murders.
