Body found in Mississippi River confirmed to be missing Davenport man

A body found on a barge in the Mississippi River at Buffalo, Iowa was confirmed to be that of a missing Davenport man.

A body found on a barge in the Mississippi River at Buffalo, Iowa was confirmed to be that of a missing Davenport man.

John LaBarre, 57, was last seen the evening of Saturday, June 6, 2015, along the river near Centennial Park.   He had reportedly spent time with family that evening, but he was reported missing the next day.  His family maintained they thought his disappearance was suspicious.

A body was reportedly found on a barge in the middle of the Mississippi River at Buffalo, Iowa, just after 7 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2015.  The next day, the Quad Cities Missing Persons Network posted online that the body was LaBarre.

Davenport investigators confirmed Tuesday, June 16, 2015, that the body was LaBarre.  An autopsy had been conducted, police said, but the results of the autopsy were not yet released.
