A 74-year-old Davenport, Iowa woman was identified as the pedestrian killed in a morning wreck that happened on River Drive.
Police said Fannie Mae Brown stepped into the roadway when she was struck by an eastbound SUV just after 7 a.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2014. The traffic light was green and the SUV was traveling in the right-hand lane when Ms. Brown was struck on River Drive near Tremont.
Brown was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
The SUV came to rest against a nearby tree.
The driver, an 82-year-old man from Rock Island, Illinois, suffered non-life-threatening injuries according Davenport Police Department Assistant Chief Donald Schaeffer.
The driver was not at fault, Schaeffer later said.
