Updated: QC counties under flood watch

After four inches of rain fell, and more expected, the National Weather Service issued a flood watch.

A flood watch is in effect for the Quad City area.

The National Weather Service said that after one to four inches of rain fell around the area, with more expected, there may be some small stream and tributary river flooding. Also, “flash flooding cannot be ruled out.”

“Heavy rainfall totals will lead to the possibility of river flooding and small stream flooding,” said a spokesperson from NWS. “There will be a lower chance of flash flooding.”

Carroll, Jo Daviess, Mercer, Rock Island, Stephenson, Whiteside, Benton, Buchanan, Cedar, Clinton, Delaware, Des Moines, Iowa, Dubuque, Henry (Iowa), Jackson, Jefferson, Johnson, Jones, Keokuk, Lee, Linn, Louisa, Muscatine, Scott, Van Buren, and Washington Counties were included in the watch area.

The watch was set to last until 6 a.m. Monday.
