A processional for Corporal Bryant B.J. Luxmore of New Windsor left the Quad Cities Airport late Saturday morning.
Over a hundred patriot guard members and dozens of cars rode along a Highway 150 and Route 17 through New Windsor, Viola and Aledo. The route was lined with thousands of flags and grateful Americans.
“It’s breathtaking. Makes you proud to be an American when you see all that,” onlooker, Doug McKay says.
Doug McKay is the proud father of a Marine that went to high school with Corporal Luxmore and just returned from Iraq. He sat in the bed of his truck to watch the processional pass by, his way of showing support.
One dad, Matt Hammill stood on the roof of his car with his 3 children while waving flags as you enter Aledo. He used the opportunity to teach his three children a valuable lesson about those that make the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
“These guys are 11, 6 and 3 and they need to know why we get to get up every morning and do everything that we do. It’s because these soldiers keep us safe,” Hammill said.
Visitation for Corporal Luxmore is set for Monday at 2:00 and the funeral will be Tuesday at 9:00 A.M., both at Sherrard High School.
He leaves behind a wife and 3 year old son.
