MOLINE, Ill. — The Storm Track 8 team is issuing a Weather Impact Alert for Wednesday afternoon into the evening due to forecasted high winds.
Afternoon highs will reach nearly 40 degrees with sustained winds of 25 mph and wind gusts up to 50 mph from the south and west. The strongest winds are expected to be on the Illinois side of the Mississippi River. We also can't rule out a stray rain/snow shower in the afternoon, especially north of I-80.
The strongest winds likely exceeding 50 mph will arrive just after dark, continuing through the late night hours.
The Weather Impact Alert lasts from 2 p.m. Wednesday to midnight on Thursday. Secure loose outdoor objects and use caution when traveling in or around larger vehicles.
