MOLINE, Ill. — The New Boston Volunteer Ambulance Service has been selected as the July recipient for Eriksen Chevrolet’s Three Degree Guarantee.
For each day of the month that the temperature is within three degrees of the forecasted high temperature, the New Boston Volunteer Ambulance Service will receive $20 from Eriksen Chevrolet in Milan, Illinois. Each night, the WQAD Storm Track 8 team will predict the next day’s high temperature. The forecasted temperatures are compared to the actual temperatures recorded by the National Weather Service.
The New Boston Volunteer Ambulance Service is run by 10 volunteers who serve the communities of New Boston, Eliza and parts of Keithsburg in Mercer County, Illinois. As an all-volunteer service, the team provides ambulance and first responder care. Without a local volunteer service, response times would increase in this rural area. While they’re always working to upgrade and purchase new equipment, the ambulance service is fundraising for an AED (automated external defibrillator) for the New Boston Elementary School. The volunteers also give their time to provide first responder coverage for home football games at Mercer County High School in Aledo, Illinois.
