MOLINE, Ill. — For each day of the month that the actual temperature is within three degrees of the forecasted high temperature, the Family First Foundation will receive $20 from Eriksen Chevrolet in Milan, Illinois. Each night, the WQAD Storm Track 8 team will predict the next day’s high temperature. Then, the forecasted temperatures are compared to the actual temperatures recorded by the National Weather Service.
Family First Foundation began its mission in 2015 to support those in the Quad Cities region facing food insecurities. Family First hosts an annual Soup-Off fundraising event providing an opportunity for individuals to test their cooking skills by entering a homemade soup into the competition, while inviting other Quad Citizens to vote for their favorite. With more than 20 soup entries annually, Family First offers something for everyone. To add even more excitement to the evening, they have a wide variety of silent auction items, raffle baskets, 50/50 drawing and more.
Family First takes extreme pride in ensuring every dime raised through this event goes back to the local community. Thanks to the generosity of individuals in the area, Family First is helping provide thousands of meals to local individuals, families and those simply needing a warm meal during a tough time. The 8th Annual Soup-Off will be held on November 16th, 2024, at JATC 91 in Rock Island.
