Quad Cities Senior Olympics receives $580 as the Three Degree Guarantee recipient for May 2024

The Quad Cities Senior Olympics received $580 from Eriksen Chevrolet as the recipient of the May 2024 Three Degree Guarantee.

MOLINE, Ill. — Quad Cities Senior Olympics has been given a $580 check as the May recipient of Eriksen Chevrolet’s Three Degree Guarantee.

For each day of May that the actual temperature was within three degrees of the forecasted high temperature, Quad Cities Senior Olympics received $20 from Eriksen Chevrolet in Milan, Illinois. $580 was given to the organization in total after the meteorologists accurately forecasted 29 of May's 31 days. Each night, the WQAD Storm Track 8 team will predict the next day’s high temperature. The forecasted temperatures are compared to the actual temperatures recorded by the National Weather Service.

Quad Cities Senior Olympics encourages people over the age of 40 to remain active to improve their health and quality of life through physical activity and creativity.

The 33rd Annual Senior Olympics will include more than 50 events held over several weeks in May and June. Events include track and field competitions, swimming, a 5K race, shuffleboard, arts and crafts contests and much more. A new event this year will be a pickleball tournament at Riverside Park in Moline. Seniors can register to participate in unlimited events for only $40.

The money donated through the Three Degree Guarantee goes towards the overhead costs of hosting the events, including insurance costs.
