MOLINE, Ill. — April is off to a snowy start in the Quad Cities, as snow showers began hitting the region Tuesday afternoon and are forecasted to continue into Wednesday.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter weather advisory in effect until 10 a.m. CT Wednesday, with snow accumulations of three to five inches possible and wind gusts as high as 45 mph.

The advisory is in effect for Jo Daviess County, Carroll County and Whiteside County in the Illinois portion of the News 8 viewing area.

The advisory is in effect for Clinton County and Jackson County in the Iowa portion of the News 8 viewing area.

The NWS says that air temperatures will drop into the lower 30s overnight, which could lead water to freeze on roads. Drivers should exercise caution due to reduced visibility and slick roads during their Wednesday commute.
