PUTNAM COUNTY, Ill. — A tornado touched down Thursday just over an hour southeast of the Quad Cities in Putnam County, Illinois.
The EF-1 twister spawned at 4:40 p.m. and traveled 10 miles before lifting off the ground at 4:52 p.m. It touched down east of Highway 26, south of Henry, Illinois, and overturned a semi on Highway 18 soon after. The system uprooted numerous trees and damaged several outbuildings.
The tornado's peak winds were 110 mph and its maximum width was about 100 yards.
