MOLINE, Ill. — Severe storms are forecasted to hit the Quad Cities region on Thursday afternoon, as of 9 a.m. Thursday morning.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the severe weather threat is at a Level 1 out of 5 for Thursday afternoon in portions of Knox County, Stark County, Bureau County and Warren County.

A round of showers and storms are forecasted to hit the region, with severe storms possible. The NWS says large hail, damaging winds and tornadoes are all possible, but the latest forecasts show the area of concern shifting further south of our region.

According to News 8 Meteorologist Andrew Stutzke, rain and thick cloud cover are likely to linger for much of Thursday. But if the sun begins to shine and temperatures rise into the 60s and 70s, the risk of severe weather will increase.
