HENRY COUNTY, Iowa — On Wednesday, April 17, Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds issued a disaster proclamation for several Iowa counties impacted by Tuesday's severe weather, including Henry and Des Moines counties.
The Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program and the Disaster Case Advocacy Program for those counties are activated for those counties through the proclamation.
The grant program bestows up to $5,000 to households with incomes up to 200% of the federal property level and can help fund home or car repairs, replacement of clothing or food and temporary housing expenses. The grant application and instructions are available on the Iowa Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management website. Applicants have 45 days from the proclamation date to submit a claim.
The advocacy program aims to address serious needs related to disaster-related hardship, injury or adverse conditions. There are no income eligibility requirements for the program and the application window closes 180 days from Wednesday.
