2 tornadoes confirmed in McDonough County Thursday evening

The National Weather Service confirmed 2 EF-U tornadoes hit near Good Hope and near Bardolph around 7 p.m.

GOOD HOPE, Ill. — The National Weather Service Quad Cities confirmed two brief tornadoes touched down in McDonough County around 7 p.m. Thursday, June 13.

Both were rated as EF-U on the Enhanced Fujita Scale, meaning that the tornado is unrated due to the lack of damage evidence. The two tornadoes were spotted near Good Hope and Bardolph, north and northeast of Macomb.

The NWS survey confirmed that a brief tornado touchdown was observed by a chaser northeast of the Macomb Municipal Airport. The tornado touched down at 6:56 p.m. and was on the ground for 0.06 miles. Its max width reached 10 yards. The tornado occurred in an open field and no damage was observed.

The second tornado occurred minutes later at 7:00 p.m. southeast of Good Hope near Bardolph. The tornado's path ran for 0.08 miles and reached a max width of 10 yeards. There was no observed damage with the tornado as it touched down in an open field.
