Roofing companies booked up for weeks in advance following Derecho

Contractors say they're still fielding dozens of calls everyday.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — It's the wind storm that just keeps on giving, keeping contractors busy and homeowners up at night. Three weeks on and roofing companies are still picking up the pieces from Derecho, when winds hit 130 miles per hour.

Victor Palma from Rolando Palma Company says the phone is ringing off the hook, "Its been super busy, super busy."

"We are getting 20-15 calls a day."

He and his team have completed 150 jobs already.

"You see broken windows, broken siding,"

Crews are travelling across the region to finish many more, "We have gone as far as Aledo, Illinois and Iowa City," says Victor.

Today (September 2nd) they're replacing this house's battered shingles.

Gabe Franker from Shingle Star says he's still trying to catch up from the April 7th hail storm, "We're running appointments 7 days a week, running up jobs."

"There's a lot of contractors in the Quad Cities, we're not able to get to the jobs till next year

So for these roofers...

"Its been a pretty good year for us," said Gabe.
