MOLINE, Ill. — Thursday morning commuters are encouraged to reduce their speed across northwest Illinois and eastern Iowa as patchy areas of fog develop across the greater Quad Cities region.
According to News 8 Meteorologist Andrew Stutzke, this morning's fog is dropping visibility to less than a quarter of a mile in some areas. Drivers are encouraged to use their low-beam headlights and reduce their speed if they encounter fog. Clear skies, light winds, and extra moisture from recent rain allow this to form. Expect it to lift by mid-morning, revealing mostly cloudy skies that will become mostly sunny throughout the day.
The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities said that the most dense fog patches will form in river valleys across the region.
