Who let the dogs out? | Princeton Dog Scamper to raise funds for Mississippi River Trail connection

The third annual Princeton Dog Scamper is set to return to Princeton, Iowa. The two-mile walk and run fundraiser is open to dogs and their humans.

MOLINE, Ill. — Princeton Recreation Trails, Inc. is hosting its third annual Princeton Dog Scamper. The two-mile dog walk and run in Princeton, Iowa will take place on Friday, April 28th at 6:00 p.m.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Princeton Recreation Trails, Inc. The non-profit’s main goal is to extend the Mississippi River Trail (MRT) through Princeton. Race director Tara Flesch said the organization aims to improve pathways to increase safe and healthy opportunities for all.

“Our primary goal is to bring a separated Mississippi River Trail to Princeton,” Flesch said. “The fundraiser will help accomplish this goal and the event is endorsed by the Iowa Healthiest State Initiative for taking charge in improving the health of Iowans”.

You can register at GetMeRegistered.com. Human registration fee is $30 per person. Dogs are free. The dog scamper begins and ends near Go Fish Marina Bar and Grill in Princeton, Iowa.

The top three male and female runners with a dog will receive a trophy. The first 150 participants will receive a tennis ball for their furry friends. There will be three raffle baskets, one including a free dog grooming service.

Water will be provided following the race. Participants are strongly encouraged to control their pets.
