Woman injured when trailer from opposite direction of traffic detaches, hits front of her pickup on I-74 in Bettendorf

The 30-year-old driver had to be extricated from the vehicle and was taken to a nearby hospital.

BETTENDORF, Iowa — A utility trailer that became detached from a pickup on Interstate 74 hit the front of another pickup and left the driver injured.

The trailer, which was being hauled by a northbound 2005 Nissan pickup, came off the near the Spruce Hills Drive interchange, according to the City of Bettendorf.  The trailer then crossed the median and hit the front of a 2019 GMC Sierra that was headed southbound. 

It happened around 5:10 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2.

The Sierra's 30-year-old driver was injured in the wreck and had to be extricated from the vehicle, according to the city's statement.  She was taken to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries.

There have been no charges filed in the incident. 

Traffic was tied up until about 6 p.m. as crews worked to clear the scene.
