ORIGINAL (June 1): As contractors remove the remaining section of old Interstate 74 over River Drive, the road will be closed starting Monday, June 6 between 19th Street and the I-74 on-ramp in Moline.
Weather permitting, the section of River Drive is expected to reopen to traffic Friday, June 10, according to a news release from the I-74 Mississippi River Bridge. I-74 ramps on the drive will remain open throughout the work.
Cars traveling westbound on River Driver will still be able to access the Iowa-bound on-ramp to I-74, but eastbound drivers will need to turn right on 19th Street, left on 6th Avenue and then left to reach the Iowa-bound ramp.
Drivers taking the River Drive exit on Illinois-bound I-74 must turn left on River Drive. To get westbound on River Drive, you'll need to turn right on 23rd Street, right on 4th Avenue, and then right on 19th Street to River Drive.
To avoid the road closure, downtown Moline traffic can use 4th, 6th, or 7th avenues.
