ROCK ISLAND COUNTY, Ill. — Drivers traveling over the Mississippi River Bridge in the next few weeks should be alert for lane closures as the Illinois Department of Transportation washes the bridge.
Weather permitting, the lane closures will start on Sunday, April 16. The closures will be from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday during the bridge washing, which is anticipated to last for two weeks.
Intermittent lane closures will also be required on Illinois 84 in Illinois and U.S. 67 (Cody Road) in Iowa.
Those traveling through the area should plan ahead due to the closures. Drivers should also consider alternative routes if possible and pay attention to posted road signs for construction and speed limits.
