MOLINE, Ill. — Update: Less than one week after part of the Interstate 74 Bridge was projected to be open to traffic, project leaders sped up that opening date.
A post on the I-74 River Bridge Facebook page stated "our crews are going to power through the week to try to get the new bridge open to traffic THIS FRIDAY," which would be November 13.
This update was announced Tuesday morning, November 10.
Crews planned to work overnight Thursday to prepare for the opening, according to the post.
The travel-ready bridge will be open to Iowa-bound traffic only. Project leaders say the completion is weather-dependent.
Once the Iowa-bound side is open, there will be three lanes of traffic, with the speed limit set at 55 mph. The detours for Illinois-bound traffic will remain the same.
