WHITESIDE COUNTY, Ill. — Drivers planning to head eastbound on Interstate 88 Wednesday afternoon may need to find an alternate route.
The Illinois Department of Transportation tweeted that the pavement on the eastbound lanes has buckled at milepost 14, which is about five miles before Erie. The DOT's tweet says Illinois State Police are at the scene to slow down traffic.
