ROCK ISLAND COUNTY, Ill. — Heavy traffic congestion was being reported on Interstate 80, south of the bridge in Rock Island County on Monday afternoon, September 27.
Traffic maps showed a backup in the westbound lanes between the bridge near LeClaire and the I-80 / I-88 interchange. This is about a six-mile stretch of road.
At 4 p.m., Google was reporting a 48 minute delay.
Waze traffic reports indicated traffic was stopped, "bumper to bumper."
There has been no official word as to what caused the backup.
As of 5:45 p.m. traffic was moving quicker in the area.
