ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — Drivers using the I-280 Mississippi River Bridge next week should expect delays.
The Illinois Department of Transportation announced there will be lane closures on the bridge in Rock Island beginning Monday, March 13, for bridge inspections.
Weather permitting, the westbound right land will be closed on the bridge on March 13 and 14 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The eastbound right lane will be closed on Wednesday, March 15 and 16 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Signs will be used to maintain traffic during the project, but IDOT is urging drivers to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey posted speed limits, refrain from using phones and be alert for workers and equipment.
The bridge inspections are scheduled to be completed by 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 16 when all lanes will be reopened to traffic.
