Police identify 2 critically injured in rollover crash on US 61 in Eldridge

Witnesses told police the car lost control on Highway 61, struck a guardrail and rolled several times before landing in a ditch.

A 14 and 22-year-old are hospitalized with critical injuries after a rollover crash Friday afternoon, Aug. 5 on U.S. Highway 61 in Eldridge.

The Scott Emergency Communication Center received a 911 call at about 2 p.m. Friday regarding a crash on Highway 61 in the area of Mile Marker 124.5 in Eldridge, according to the Scott County Sheriff's Office.

Crews responded, and their investigation revealed a 1998 Toyota Corolla had been traveling southbound on 61 when the car lost control, struck a guardrail west of the roadway, rolled several times and came to a rest in a ditch.

Both occupants of the car, 22-year-old Ty'Ollie Bright of Davenport and his 14-year-old relative, were ejected during the crash. Both were taken to a local hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. The teen was later airlifted to a state hospital.

The crash was under investigation by the Scott County Sheriff's Office as of Sunday, Aug. 7, and both occupants of the car remained hospitalized.
