DAVENPORT, Iowa — The Government Bridge, connecting Rock Island Arsenal with Davenport, has officially reopened.
The bridge is available for drivers once again, starting Thursday, Aug. 29. It was first closed back in March when crews began construction of a new roundabout at the foot of the bridge.
With the roundabout's completion in early August, crews just needed to wrap up work on some mechanical issues on the bridge to get it ready for commuters again.
Officials told News 8 that the reopening plans, which were originally scheduled for July, were delayed due to river flooding.
