MADISON COUNTY, Ill. — A deadly crash early Monday morning on Interstate 55 has closed all northbound lanes at Illinois Route 203.
According to Illinois State Police, the crash happened at about 4:30 a.m. on northbound I-55 near Milepost 3 in Madison County. One person was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Illinois Department of Transportation expected the closure to last until 9 a.m. as crews work to investigate and clear the scene. In the meantime, traffic is being diverted from northbound I-55 to eastbound Interstate 64.
