BETTENDORF, Iowa — A crash near the I-74 Bridge in Bettendorf blocked off traffic for a while Wednesday afternoon.
News 8 noticed several firetrucks and other first responders at the scene as well as a semi that appeared to be smoking nearby. A hazmat team was there as well.
The city reported that the crash happened at 12:18 p.m. A semi and tow truck were "severely damaged" in a crash at the intersection of State Street and the off-ramp of I-74 westbound. The only occupants were the drivers.
The investigation revealed that the tow truck ran a red light at the bottom of the off-ramp after "experiencing an equipment failure." The semi, which was traveling east on State Street through a green light, then hit the tow truck.
The city says there were no major injuries in the accident.
Viewer Mike Hannan submitted the video through the News 8 app shortly after the crash. His video shows smoke coming from two semis, one was carrying another vehicle.
