Construction leading to changed traffic patterns in the Quad Cities

Some closures are expected in Davenport and Rock Island.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — A few road closures are coming to the Quad Cities that commuters may want to be aware of when they're planning their drives to work.

In Davenport, ongoing construction efforts on West Locust Street are continuing. On Wednesday, Nov. 8, the intersections at Marquette Street and Locust Street, and Washington Street and Locust Street will be closed at intermittent times. According to city officials, alternate north-south travel options will be available by using Gaines Street or Division Street. The work in the westbound lanes is expected to last up to two weeks and work will then shift to the middle lanes. Updates on how that future construction will impact traffic will be released in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, across the river in Rock Island, 11th Street will temporarily eliminate westbound turns through its intersection with 25th Avenue beginning on Monday, Nov. 6. According to officials with Rock Island Public Works, westbound traffic on 25th Avenue should turn north or south at the intersection. The closure is due to the installation of new water main connections. Officials expect the final connections will be installed by Nov. 24, pending appropriate weather conditions for construction.
