DAVENPORT, Iowa — The Arsenal Bridge, connecting Rock Island and Davenport, will be closed for four months as crews install a roundabout, according to Don Wrenn, director of public affairs at U.S. Army Garrison Rock Island Arsenal.

The bridge will be closed to traffic from March 18 through July 18, as crews install a roundabout on the Iowa landing side of the bridge at the intersection of Second Street and LeClaire Street.

The project aims to alleviate traffic issues in the area and give over-height trucks an easier route, according to Wrenn.

The government-funded project is estimated to cost $985,000. The Garrison is working with the City of Davenport and the Bi-State Commission to complete the project.

One side of the pedestrian path will remain open throughout the project for walkers and bicyclists.
