For the trees: Give your feedback on Rock Island County's forest preserves

The Rock Island County Forest Preserve District is asking for feedback on our forest preserves through an online survey. Participants could win a Visa gift card!

ROCK ISLAND COUNTY, Ill. — Your time filling out a 15-minute survey could win you a Visa gift card!

The Rock Island County Forest Preserve District is inviting residents of Rock Island County to complete the 2023 forest preserve properties survey. Responses will be accepted until Friday, Nov. 17.

You can find the online survey by clicking here. Those who complete it will be entered for a chance to win one of five $20 Visa gift cards.

“Feedback is invaluable to making sure the services throughout the District are connecting everyone to outdoor experiences and the need for conservation in our community,” Jeff Craver, Forest Preserve District director wrote in a press release. “The results will help us create a roadmap for how we can continue to improve.”

Questions on the survey include how important the preserves are to you and your loved ones, as well as questions on education and conservation efforts within the district.

The Rock Island County Forest Preserve District is set up to maintain and acquire land within the county in order to best restore, conserve and protect the forests, prairies, water, plants and animals that inhabit them. From there, the goal is to create educational and recreational opportunities for residents in Rock Island County and beyond while promoting conservation.

The district is governed by the Rock Island Forest Preserve Commission, which oversees 2,529 total acres of forest preserve. That's split up into six preserves:

  • Loud Thunder Forest Preserve
  • Illiniwek Forest Preserve
  • Niabi Zoo
  • Indian Bluff Golf Course and Forest Preserve
  • Dorrance Park
  • Martin Conservation Area
