IOWA, USA — Nearly 20 ponds across the state will soon be teeming with trout.
The Iowa DNR announced this year's dates for community pond stocking, promising plenty of great fishing as the weather grows colder.
"drop everything and clear your calendar. why? we're releasing 1,000-2,000 trout at 18 ponds across the state and you should be there," DNR shared on X, formerly known as Twitter.
You need a valid fishing license and to have paid a trout fee to take home any of the freshwater fish. That fee runs anywhere from $14.50 for residents to $17.50 for nonresidents, and allows anglers to catch up to five trout each day.
