PHOENIX — A large statue resembling former president Donald Trump is attracting some attention in central Phoenix.
12News learned Thursday morning that a 43-foot tall statue with a close likeness of the GOP presidential candidate was being held up by cables and a crane in a lot near 24th and Washington streets.
The Trump-like figure resembles one seen in Las Vegas earlier this week and was upsetting Nevada's Republican Party. KTNV was contacted by an artist taking credit for making the structure, claiming it was intended as a commentary on transparency in politics.
Phoenix's naked statue has already begun attracting the gaze of onlookers who could be seen snapping pictures of the large figure.
This isn't the first time Trump's likeness has been used to make a controversial display. A few years ago, the former president's face was put on a billboard featuring mushroom clouds and dollar signs made to resemble swastikas.
