INDIANAPOLIS — Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever are headed to the WNBA playoffs, but Thursday night's regular season finale against the Washington Mystics gave the rookie sensation one more chance at the record books.
Clark's season has already been historic as she notched records for most 3-pointers in a season in team history, 3-pointers made for a rookie in a season, points in a season for a rookie and points in a season for a Fever player.
The former Hawkeye started the game against Washington with 120 3-pointers made, nine away from setting the single season record.
In the first quarter, she hit a deep triple, her second of the game, to surpass Diana Taurasi's 2006 mark of 121 3-pointers made in a season.
Clark ended up playing only 20 minutes in the game as the Fever had their playoff seeding clinched earlier this week, leaving her second all-time in 3-pointers made in a season at 122.
Sabrina Ionescu set the record of 128 3-pointers made in a season last season with the New York Liberty.
The Indiana Fever (20-20) are the 6-seed in the playoffs and play a best-of-three series against the 3-seed Connecticut Sun. The Sun are the home team for Games 1 and 2, with the Fever hosting Game 3 if necessary.
Below is a schedule for their first round matchup:
- Game 1: Sunday, Sept. 22 at 2 p.m. CT (ABC)
- Game 2: Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 6:30 p.m. CT (ESPN)
- Game 3 (if necessary): Friday, Sept. 27 (Time TBD, ESPN2)
