INDIANAPOLIS — For months, the Latinas Welding Guild has been planning and working on a 14,000-pound steel replica of the Eiffel Tower to celebrate the U.S. Olympic Swim Trials in Indianapolis.
Now, the tower is nearing its completion.
On Sunday, June 9, crews continued the primary construction on the replica, which can now be seen right outside the front entrance to the Indiana Convention Center.
The tower will sit near the intersection of Georgia Street and Capitol Avenue to give fans and participants a little taste of Paris while in Indianapolis.
The trials begin June 15 at Lucas Oil Stadium and last until June 23.
