NHL to head to Des Moines for Utah Hockey Club's first ever game

The newly established Utah Hockey Club will take on the St. Louis Blues at Wells Fargo Arena.

DES MOINES, Iowa — The Iowa Events Center announced Monday that the National hockey League's (NHL) newest team, the Utah Hockey Club, will square off against the St. Louis Blues at Wells Fargo Arena on Sunday, Sept. 22 for a preseason game.

Ticket sales for the Des Moines Community Classic go live at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 28.

The matchup marks the first ever for Utah, as it was first established by the NHL in April 2024 following the acquisition of the Arizona Coyotes' assets.

It will be the second time an NHL preseason game has been played in Des Moines for the St. Lous Blues, with the last being against the Minnesota Wild in 2018.
