CORALVILLE, Iowa — The Pleasant Valley Lady Spartans volleyball team won the Iowa 5A state championship on Nov. 7, defeating Waukee Northwest three sets to one.
The Spartans won the first set, before dropping the second set 26-24 to the Wolves. PV won the third set 25-22 and the fourth set 25-16 to claim the IGHSAU 5A state title.
The Spartans were the top seed heading into the tournament with a record of 34-2. They defeated Waukee and Dowling Catholic in the quarterfinals and semifinals respectively, winning each match in three sets.
