MILLEDGEVILLE, Ill. — Last Saturday, Milledgeville avenged their only loss of the season to Polo, advancing them to Illinois' 8-man state championship game.
This will be the first time the Missiles have played in a state championship game in either 11-man or 8-man football.
Milledgeville has never advanced past the second round in the 8-man playoffs, so this is a big step for the team. That said, they won't just be happy to be there — they want to bring home that state championship trophy.
"After we lost to Polo the first time, our goal was to go 7-0 in the last half of the season and now we have a chance to get there...that's amazing," Coach Jason Wrobles said.
Milledgeville will kick off against defending champion Amboy on Friday at 7 p.m. The game will take place at April Zorn Memorial Stadium on Monmouth College's campus.
