BROOKLYN, N.Y. — While many eyes were on Caitlin Clark as she became the first pick of the 2024 WNBA draft, #22 wasn't the only Hawkeye who heard her name called in Brooklyn.
Iowa guard Kate Martin was the sixth pick of the second round, and the star will become a member of the Las Vegas Aces. She'll be joining fellow Hawkeye alum Megan Gustafson on the roster.
Dubbed "The Glue" by Coach Lisa Bluder, Martin served as captain of the Iowa women's basketball team for four seasons. In her most recent season, Martin became the first Iowa women's player to amass 900+ points, 400+ assists, 120+ steals and 60+ blocks in a career.
Martin recorded 16 points and five rebounds in her final Iowa basketball game against South Carolina. Throughout her collegiate career, Martin averaged eight points and 4.6 rebounds per game.
