MOLINE, Ill. — Update Sunday, Nov. 12 at 11 a.m.: Both Galena and Rock Falls made school history during Saturday's postseason games.
Galena volleyball took home its first state title after defeating Hartsburg-Emden High School in the Class 1A state championship game.
Rock Falls also walked away with their first state trophy after placing third in Class 2A.
Update Friday, Nov. 10 at 6 p.m.: Galena has punched their ticket to the state championship game.
After a win over St. Anthony High School on Friday, the Pirates are moving to the Class 1A state championship game.
It will take place on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 10:30 a.m. against Hartsburg-Emden High School out of Hartsburg.
While Rock Falls fell short of making it to the Class 2A championship game, the Rockets will play for third place on Saturday as well, starting at 12:25 p.m.

Two Illinois high school volleyball teams have punched their tickets to the state semifinals.
Galena and Rock Falls will compete on Friday, Nov. 10 in the Class 1A and Class 2A semifinals respectively. Galena will face off against St. Anthony High School out of Effingham at 10:30 a.m., with Rock Falls set to play Mater Dei Catholic High School out of Breese later in the day at 1:30 p.m.
The winning teams will move on to compete for the state championship, with those games scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 11.
The Rockets' trip to the state semifinals is the first ever in school history. Meanwhile, the Galena Pirates are heading back for the first time since 2018.
This comes after North Scott won its first state title in decades on the other side of the river in Iowa.
