SILVIS, Ill. — Parking at the John Deere Classic doesn’t have to be stressful.

"We make it fun, it’s gotta be fun,” Rob Hodson said.

Hodson is a Quad Citizen who parks cars for $20 each on his parent’s property near TPC Deere Run.

Hodson and neighbors stand outside from morning until the last car leaves the JDC, rain or shine, to help people park. They spend the day on the side of the road with pom-poms, signs and music to keep their spirits high and give people a good experience so they return next year.

The extra cash isn’t just something extra for their pockets, it’s helpful for the homeowners. Hodson said that the houses near the course are responsible to pay for their own roads, gravel and water. The space fits around 50 cars, and the money helps to pay for property costs.

Hodson said that those who suffer from a disability or older couples that have a hard time walking long distances are the people they look out for and try to make it easier for them to get to the action.
