SILVIS, Ill — It may be the day before a holiday, but that didn't stop the crowds from coming out to support the 2024 John Deere Classic! Before the pros tee off for the first round of the tournament, TPC Deere Run hosted some friendly competitions and some famous visitors.
JDC Pro-Am Tournament
Professional golfers and amateurs from all over came together for the JDC's Pro-Am tournament on Wednesday. From former Hawkeye and current Sacramento King Keegan Murray to JDC veterans like Jordan Spieth, there were plenty of familiar names for fans to come and see.
Results are still coming in, but you'll be able to find them here once the dust settles.
JDC Youth Clinic
Dozens of kids got a chance to learn from the pros and even saw some glass get shattered as players practiced their aim.
Wesley Bryan and Harry Higgs teamed up to host the First Tee Youth Day Clinic, and it wasn't just golf skills being put on display. Keegan Murray stopped by to participate in a shooting contest. All the training was put on with the hopes of training the next generation of JDC pros.
PGA Commissioner Jay Monahan pays a visit to the Quad Cities
While the PGA's big-name players are in the Quad Cities, commissioner Jay Monahan also made a stop at the course.
Monahan was back at TPC Deere run to celebrate the 25-year partnership between the PGA Tour and John Deere. The commissioner had a quick meeting with John Deere CEO John May, and he told reporters he understands what the tournament means to the community every year.
"This tournament is so remarkable. $14.2 million raised for charity, $175 million since its inception, and 98% of it under John Deere's tenure. The way that the fans in this community turn out, it's really the foundation, the soul of the PGA Tour is a week like the John Deere Classic," Monahan said.
