The city is asking everyone to reduce their water use for the foreseeable future.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — Update Aug. 12:

A boil order in Rock Island that was put in place Monday has been lifted.

The City of Rock Island said the Water Treatment Plant tested water samples from several locations and confirmed it is safe to drink without boiling. The boil order was implemented for customers from 25th Street East to the Moline border between 7th Avenue and 18th Avenue.

Update Aug. 11:

The city of Rock Island is asking that citizens only use water when necessary.

"We are unable to predict when the power will be restored and conserving water will assist with making the current reserves last longer."

After damage caused during the severe storms on August 10, the City of Rock Island is requesting that citizens only use water when necessary.

Officials say once the power has been restored, all operations will return to normal.
