SCOTT COUNTY, Iowa — Scott County's city and school election is on Nov. 7, where residents can vote for their mayor, aldermen and school board members.
The Davenport primary election results were announced Oct. 10, solidifying the candidates for the regular election.
Here's what Scott County voters need to know before they make their decision.
How and where to vote
Residents have several options when choosing how to cast their vote. To prepare for the election, the Scott County Auditor's Office recommends pre-registering to vote before Monday, Oct. 23 at 5 p.m. This will make sure your name and address appear in the voter records on Election Day, speeding up counting at the polls.
Anyone who has moved and has not updated their voter registration can do so online or at the auditor's office.
Update: The recommended voter registration date has passed, but Scott County residents can register and vote on Election Day, Nov. 7 at their assigned polling place. Find your polling place here.
Absentee ballots
To receive a ballot in the mail, complete the absentee ballot request form found here, and get it to the auditor's office by Monday, Oct. 23 at 5 p.m. Ballots will be mailed out starting Wednesday, Oct. 18.
If you can't download the request form online, call the auditor's office at (563) 326-8631 and they will mail the form to you.
On Election Day, all absentee ballots must be received by the auditor's office by Nov. 7 at 8 p.m. to be counted. The ballot can be mailed to the auditor's office, dropped off, or delivered by an approved party. Instructions for third-party drop-off can be found on the ballot.
A ballot drop-box will be available for absentee ballot returns at the Scott County Administrative Center on the west side of the parking lot. It will open from Oct. 18 until Nov. 7 at 8 p.m.
Update: The deadline for requesting an absentee ballot has passed.
Early in-person voting
Residents can start in-person voting at the auditor's office on Wednesday, Oct. 18, and will be available on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Early voting will also be available Saturday, Oct. 28 from 9 a.m. to noon.
Additional early voting locations include:
- Scott County Library, 200 N 6th St., Eldridge: Oct. 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
