MUSCATINE COUNTY, Iowa — City and school elections across Iowa are Nov. 7, where residents can vote for their mayor, aldermen and school board members.

Here's what voters in Muscatine, Clinton, Jackson, Des Moines and Louisa counties need to know before they make their decision.
How and where to vote
Iowa residents can register and vote on Election Day, Nov. 7 at their assigned polling place. They can also register online before Election Day. Find links to online voter registration and polling place locators for each county below:

Absentee Ballots
The deadline to request an absentee ballot has passed.
On Election Day, all absentee ballots must be received by each county's auditor's office by Nov. 7 at 8 p.m. to be counted. The ballot can be mailed to the auditor's office, dropped off, or delivered by an approved party. Instructions for third-party drop-off can be found on the ballot.
Absentee ballots are due at the auditor's office on Nov. 6. All Iowa voters are required to show a valid photo ID at the polls before voting. On Nov. 7, polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

County Measures
Muscatine County Public Measure QD
This measure will adopt a Revenue Purpose Statement specifying how Muscatine CSD uses the revenue it receives from the State of Iowa Secure an Advanced Vision for Education Fund (SAVE), a tax revenue stream used to support school infrastructure. This is not a new tax; the measure simply allows the school district to use the funds in certain ways.
Measure QD specifies it will use SAVE funds for:
- New internet, safety and security infrastructure
- The building and furnishing of new school buildings
- The purchase of buildings, equipment and transportation, as well as their repair
- The purchase of land for new construction
- The payments to cities or other entities as required by law
- Demolition and cleanup caused by natural disasters
- Creating and maintaining playgrounds, recreational activities and community education services
- Paying back loans taken for school infrastructure
- Property tax relief
- Any other authorized spending
Durant Community School District Public Measure DQ
This measure will allow Durant CSD, located in Cedar, Muscatine and Scott counties, to take on more than $11 million in debt to repair school buildings.
The debt would be used to renovate, remodel, repair, improve, expand, furnish and equip portions of existing buildings, including:
- Gymnasium spaces
- Classrooms
- HVAC and electrical systems
- Administrative office spaces
- Security systems
Durant Community School District Public Measure DR
This measure will approve a tax on property within Durant CSD at a rate of $1.34 for every $1,000 a home or commercial property is worth.
With the tax revenue, Durant CSD would fund:
- The purchase, improvement and construction of new school buildings
- The purchase and improvement of libraries
- Energy conservation projects
- Student transportation equipment
- The lease of school buildings and equipment

The debt would be used to acquire, furnish, equip, construct and improve a multipurpose fieldhouse, related buildings and land improvements.
Easton Valley Community School District Public Measure LJ
This measure allows the Easton Valley CSD to tax properties in the school district at a rate between $2.70 and $4.05 per $1,000 of property value.
Tax revenue would be used to pay the interest and principal of the district's debts.
