UVALDE, Texas — Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, visited Uvalde this weekend to visit family members of victims of the Robb Elementary school shooting.
On Saturday, they reportedly met with the family of Irma Garcia, a schoolteacher killed in the mass shooting, according to CNN.
Garcia was killed along with 19 children and one other teacher on May 24, 2022, when a gunman entered a 4th-grade classroom at Robb Elementary. Garcia's husband Joe died two days later of a heart attack.
Irma's nephew, John, posted photos of the royal couple's visit on Twitter/X.
Later in the weekend, the royal couple posed in a picture with family members of Jackie Cazares, one of the children killed in the shooting. In an Instagram, the family thanked Harry and Meghan for honoring the 21 victims of the Robb shooting.
"Thank you to KABOOM! and the Archewell Foundation for their continued support. A special thank you to Meghan Markle and Harry for helping us honor our 21," the Instagram post read.
This is not Duchess Meghan's first visit to Uvalde. In the days after the 2022 shooting, she paid a visit to show her respects to the victims. Photos captured the moments when she laid flowers at a make-shift memorial set up in front of the Uvalde courthouse.
