WQAD welcomes Barb Ickes as Executive Producer

Ickes has spent more than two decades covering the Quad Cities as a print journalist and newsroom leader.

MOLINE, Ill. — WQAD is excited to welcome Barb Ickes as Executive Producer, joining the news management team. Ickes brings a wealth of journalism experience and vast knowledge of the Quad Cities area.

Ickes has 30 years of journalism experience, primarily in print. Ickes worked for more than 20 years at the Quad-City Times as a Reporter, and later in her career, Managing Editor. In her time with the Times, Ickes covered the biggest stories of a generation – reporting from New York days after 9/11 and interviewing former president Barack Obama. Her reporting also led to state and federal legislation, including the so-called drunk defense in Illinois and the Sgt. Brandon Ketchum Never Again Act. Ickes later served as managing editor at the Quad-City Times.

In her role with WQAD – Ickes will lead a team of producers, reporters and anchors, managing day-to-day coverage plans and newscasts.
